Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 2026

1. Service Description

The Skip Shop is an online skip hire brokerage service connecting customers with licensed waste carriers. We facilitate the booking and payment process but do not directly provide skip hire services.

All skip deliveries and collections are performed by our trusted partner suppliers who hold appropriate waste carrier licenses and insurance.

2. Payment Terms

Payment is required in full at the time of booking. We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe.

All prices shown include:

  • Skip delivery to your specified address
  • Max. 14-day hire period (unless stated otherwise)
  • Skip collection and waste disposal
  • VAT at the current rate

Additional charges may apply for extended hire periods, overfilled skips, or contaminated waste (see Section 4).

3. Future Charge Authorisation

By completing your booking, you authorise The Skip Shop to charge your saved payment method for any additional fees that may arise due to:

  • Overfilling the skip beyond the rim level
  • Contamination with prohibited materials
  • Extended hire period (if requested)

We will notify you by email at least 48 hours before processing any additional charges, providing you with:

  • The reason for the charge
  • The amount to be charged
  • Evidence (such as photographs)
  • Details of how to dispute the charge

4. Overfilling and Contamination

Overfilling: Skips must not be filled above the rim level. Overfilled skips cannot be safely transported and will not be collected until excess waste is removed. An additional charge of up to 50% of the original skip price may apply.

Prohibited Materials: The following items must NOT be placed in skips:

  • Asbestos or asbestos-containing materials
  • Electrical items (fridges, freezers, TVs, computers)
  • Batteries (car batteries, household batteries)
  • Tyres
  • Paint and solvents
  • Chemicals and hazardous materials
  • Medical waste
  • Gas cylinders

If prohibited materials are found in your skip, additional disposal fees will apply, and you will be charged for specialist waste removal.

5. Permits

If you select the permit option, we will arrange the necessary permit from your local council on your behalf. Permit costs may not be refundable if the application to your local council has been submitted.

You are responsible for ensuring a permit is obtained if the skip will be placed on public land (road, pavement). Placing a skip on public land without a permit may result in fines from your local council.

6. Delivery and Collection

Delivery slots are all day, we cannot guarantee a particular time on the day of delivery. We will relay any preferred delivery times to our selected partner, and will advise you if specific delivery times are confirmed.

You must ensure:

  • Clear access to the delivery location
  • Adequate space for the skip (see dimensions on quote page)
  • Permission from property owner if not your property
  • Someone is available to show the driver where to place the skip

If delivery cannot be completed due to access issues, a redelivery fee may apply.

We aim to collect your skip within 2-3 business days of your selected collection date, subject to availability.

7. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations more than 48 hours before delivery: Full refund minus any permit costs already incurred.

Cancellations within 48 hours of delivery: A cancellation fee of up to 50% cancellation may apply, excluding any permit costs. Any permit costs incurred will be non-refundable.

Cancellations after delivery: No refund. Standard hire period applies.

Where a cancellation is accepted, we will always seek to recover any costs from our suppliers. If we are able to obtain a full or partial refund from the supplier, this will be passed on to the customer accordingly.

To cancel, email us at [email protected] with your order number.

8. Customer Responsibilities

Ensure only permitted waste is placed in the skip.

Do not overfill the skip beyond the rim level.

Ensure the skip is accessible for collection.

Obtain necessary permissions for skip placement.

Secure the skip if left unattended to prevent unauthorised use.

9. Liability

The Skip Shop acts as an agent between customers and waste carriers. We are not liable for any damage caused by skip delivery, placement, or collection. Our partner suppliers carry appropriate liability insurance.

You are responsible for any damage to property or injury to persons resulting from the skip placement or use.

10. Data Protection

We process your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

By using our service, you consent to us sharing your contact and delivery details with our partner suppliers for the purpose of fulfilling your order.

11. Dispute Resolution

If you have any complaints or concerns, please contact us at [email protected]. We aim to respond to all complaints or concerns within 14 days.

If you are not satisfied with our resolution, you may escalate to alternative dispute resolution or small claims court.
