What Is AR Skip Preview?

AR stands for Augmented Reality. In practice, it means your phone camera shows you your real surroundings, with the skip overlaid on top as if it were actually there. Point your camera at your driveway or garden and you will see a full-size skip sitting in that space, before you have booked a thing.

That is the whole point of the feature. Not a diagram. Not a size chart. The actual skip, in your actual space, at real-world scale.

AR Skip Preview is available on all six of our skip size pages and works directly in your mobile browser. There is no app to download. Open The Skip Shop on your phone, go to any skip size page, and tap "View in Your Space." Your phone camera opens and the skip appears in your real surroundings.

This is a mobile-only feature, available on both iPhone and Android.

How AR Skip Preview Works

On each skip size page, a 3D model of the skip is displayed in your browser so you can get a sense of the shape before placing it in your space. When you tap "View in Your Space," your phone camera opens and the skip appears sitting in your real surroundings at full, real-world size.

Point the camera at your driveway, your front path, or your garden and you will see it there, as if it had been delivered. Walk around it. Check it against your car, your gate, or the side of the house. You will know straight away whether the size works.

On iPhone, this is powered by AR Quick Look, Apple's native AR viewer built into Safari. On Android, it runs through Google Scene Viewer, which launches automatically from Chrome.

All AR previews show a disclaimer: "Approximate size for guidance only." The feature is a visual aid, not a precise site measurement.

Which Skip Sizes Are Available in AR?

All six skip sizes on The Skip Shop are supported. Here is a full overview:

Our smallest available skip is the 4 yard Midi Skip. We do not offer 2 or 3 yard skips.

One important note on the larger sizes: 10 and 12 yard skips are not suitable for heavy materials such as soil, bricks, or concrete. For heavy waste, choose a Large Skip (8 yards) or smaller.
